Thanks to all the folks who wrote consoling messages on the death of my 14 year old Russian Blue, Mithandir (misspelled in the previous thread, I'm afraid) on August 3.

Twelve days ago I adopted Max, a 6 month old tiger-striped DSH, from our local animal shelter. He's a real sweetie and has been a great help in my recovery. On the day after I adopted him, I went into the hospital for apparent appendicitis, and didn't see him for 8 days! He's been hanging close ever since I got home from the hospital (don't worry, he was only alone one night with plenty of food and water, and friends took care of him).

Max is a lover and friendly to all. It's been a long time since I have had a kitten and it's pretty exciting... he's sleeping on my chest right now as I compose this on my laptop.

One thing I find odd is that he is very interested when I go to the kitchen, but he doesn't eat people food at all. I wonder what his previous owner fed him from the fridge that I haven't produced yet? His cries are pitiful and he tries to climb in the fridge, but is uninterested in all the food I do eat (so am I, my diet is so restricted at the moment! But meat and milk >are< involved).

He's also the first cat I've lived with who kisses.

Enough rambling, thanks for listening.

I'm sure that Mithandir understands! Still sorry about his passing, though...

They're such sweeties, aren't they? It's good to hear that another kitty has found you! (hope you're feeling better from your hospital visit!). But how exactly does one use a laptop with a kitty on one's chest? I can just imagine it *laugh*. With my two, I'd probably have to hold it above my head to be able to see it!

Sounds like mine... they _love_ to climb into the fridge, but are uninterested in any of the food in there. Maybe there's a secret kitty door to another dimension in the back that we don't know about?

Aren't they great? Dal's done that since the first day I ado..... errr.. _they_ adopted me! Fizzy has just learned over the last month or so

Never enough rambling about cats It's always good to hear about them!

Congratulations on Max. I wish you both a long and rewarding relationship. Did his previous human pets keep canned cat food in the fridge by any chance? Or treats of some type?
