My cat has been making these awful wheezing noises that wake me up in the middle of the night. She's done it for years, but never when she was at the vet!! It's not the same sound that she makes when she has a fur

One of my cats was diagnosed recently as having asthma, after making noises like you describe. She seems to be over it for now. The sound was like a hairball noise but higher pitched.

The vet said that if it happened again, and we brought her in the same day, she could get x-rayed and checked for inflammation even if she wasn't wheezing at the time.
