I am getting a new kitten this weekend, and am not sure where to keep him in my apartment. I do not have any other animals. He is 6 weeks old.

Should I put paper down since he is not litter trained? If so where? And, if he sleeps on my bed can he get down?

I wouldn't bother with the paper. If you kitten cant go in the box, he wont go on the paper either. Just be prepared to live with it for a little while. And take up any expensive rugs.

Kittens box train themselves fast! Have the box there and ready when he arrives. Put her in it as one of the first things you do with her. Whenever he goes on the rug or something, immediatly move her to the box. Dont bother scolding, it doesnt work. Clean up any messes as fast as they happen.

You will only have to live with box training for a few weeks, usually.

As for the bed, he wont hurt herself falling that far, and in a few weeks he'll be able to flatfoot it up or down that distance.

Relax, she and you will be fine!

Hello,

You should put down a litter box, he is old enough to know how to use it. He more than likly will have problems getting down off your bed though he may climb up and down via your blankets. When mine were tiny they just stayed in a box (filled with blankets) by the bed where I could reach them all night. Once they got old enough they came right up into the bed with me.
