Hi there. I just got a second cat. My original cat uses the litter box no problem. My second, a female siamese, doesn't seem to have it down yet.
She goes to the bathroom right on the edge of the litter box. What makes that a problem is that she often misses, and some of the mess goes onto the floor. I don't know how to get her to use the middle of the box.
Any ideas would be *greatly* appreciated.

We had the same problem with one of ours. She was backing up to the edge to pee. The solution was so simply it was scary. We got deeper litter boxes. Hope this works for you.

Make sure your cat's litter box is clean. Your siamese may be more fastidious than usual. Unicorn

We've also just gotten a second cat who is doing the same thing. Here is what we're trying: after cleaning out the litter box, we 'arrange' the litter so that it is higher on the sides of the box and dips lower in the center of the box. I don't know if it actually helps, or the kitten is just getting older and getting the hang of it - but I haven't had to clean up any messes lately.
All is not perfect though - little Lucy doesn't always cover up the poop after she's done her business. Ugh! Hopefully that will improve with age also.

Hi. Do you have just one litter box for the two cats? Getting a second litter box may solve your problem. Your new cat may not want to step where your other cat has relieved herself. If you can't get a second litter box, you'll have to clean the one you have more often. She doesn't mean to make it go on the floor, but her felineness has her not wanting to go where the other cat has gone. Since you didn't use any plural 'litter box,' it leads me to believe you have just one. I really think that getting another litter box will solve your problem. (Won't that be fun - having two litter boxes to clean.) Good luck!
