Before we lived in our present little house with a garden, we used to live in a big city apartment (the city was big, not the apartment LOL). I have had Sheretz my cat with me since before time, it seems to me, way before I met my husband an certainly way before I had any kids of my own. Sheretz grew up as a complete inside cat, and I knew that she enjoyed her greens every now and then, based on the very simple fact that every thing I tried to grow (just about) she tried to eat.
The sweet peas where especialy heart breaking, I so wanted to have a balcony full of sweet peas but they never really got past being little shoots, because the big grey hunter would chow on them before I could say Jack Robinson.
When we moved to our current little house, I was slightly worried about how a 12 or 13 year old house cat would deal with being out side - an experience she had never had, and after a week or so we let her outdoors for the first time.
(It was quite amusing seeing her walk on grass for the first time - I think the springiness really surprised her - it took some getting used to it) but since then she has learned that grass has many uses - and that grazing is a wonderful pastime.
She pretty much chooses grass over the other options, and parsley, carrots and salantra are not really attractive to her at all. I have yet to try sweet peas again and to see what happens.
Why this long and meandering trip down Memory lane, you ask? Well, Whippy Curly Tails did a jungle post, and this was what came to mind.
