I recently moved into a new house. I brought my two cats (brother Max and sister Tosh) and my fiancee brought his two Whip and Bliz (male and female but not related to each other). We had some problems with the two males, but that has since passed. Mainly because Whip has decided he'd rather be outside with the dogs than have Tosh pestering him.

Max, being the mellow guy that he is, doesn't mind anybody too much. Once in a while he joins his sister in the chase, but normally he remains a spectator.

Tosh (5 yrs) and Bliz (8 yrs), the two girls, just don't particularly like each other. They get into fights but nothing too bad. Bliz has claws and Tosh does not, but that doesn't stop her from chasing Bliz around.

I suppose it's some sort of dominance thing, but I just find it annoying. We've been in the house for two months, and we still have to keep loaded water guns at the ready.

I realize they will probably never really get along, but I'd appreciate it if anybody had any suggestions on how to possibly get them to stop fighting so much. I saw a reference to a post about 'some vanilla thing' that might help, but I missed the original post.

Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated!

Use the vanilla trick

Put 2 or 3 drops of vanilla extract on EACH CATS on the forehead and on the tail, they will have the same scent and get along. It works for many cats, hope it does for yours.

Good luck.
