Modern Cat is a blog that I like to frequent to look at great cat oriented design. I have posted from their blog before and now have found the ultimate cat house / plaything

play house

this was made by Sharon Pazner for her cat max, but apparently, he no longer uses it as his abode but has a toy.

It is made out of cardboard and is pretty cool, if you ask me.

Check out Modern cat for more beautiful stuff.

Before we lived in our present little house with a garden, we used to live in a big city apartment (the city was big, not the apartment LOL). I have had Sheretz my cat with me since before time, it seems to me, way before I met my husband an certainly way before I had any kids of my own. Sheretz grew up as a complete inside cat, and I knew that she enjoyed her greens every now and then, based on the very simple fact that every thing I tried  to grow (just about) she tried to eat.

The sweet peas where especialy heart breaking, I so wanted to have a balcony full of sweet peas but they never really got past being little shoots, because the big grey hunter would chow on them before I could say Jack Robinson.

When we moved to our current little house, I was slightly worried about how a 12 or 13 year old house cat would deal with being out side - an experience she had never had, and after a week or so we let her outdoors for the first time.

(It was quite amusing seeing her walk on grass for the first time - I think the springiness really surprised her - it took some getting used to it) but since then she has learned that grass has many uses - and that grazing is a wonderful pastime.

She pretty much chooses grass over the other options, and parsley, carrots and salantra are not really attractive to her at all. I have yet to try sweet peas again and to see what happens.

Why this long and meandering trip down Memory lane, you ask? Well, Whippy Curly Tails  did a jungle post, and this was what came to mind.

Faz the cat has posted a portrait pin of herself that was made by The Lone beader and could make great gifts for cat loving beans and also, I hate to admit, for dog loving beans as well. You can actually send in a photo and have a portrait made - is that cool or what?

We all know about the economic melt down, and the felines are getting it together to help their beans make ends meet.
The Girls from the Big Piney Woods have started a new and wonderful initiative - selling snow, which it seems they have plenty of.
Box size is determined by how many snowballs it is possible to make and I am sure they are on the brink of an huge financial empire.

I also thought of a few things felines could to to ward of the big bad poor:

1.Sell lap sessions to strangers. This may sound sleazy, but only to beans and that would be a grave misinterpretation of the original meaning.

2.Get day jobs as watch cats - not watching for intruders, but for interesting movements of the neighbours. Services could be rented out to the neighbourhood gossip.

3.Work at a fish resteraunt as a food taster. (better yet if it is a take away resteraunt) and then they could work from home.

Any thoughts?
