Hello,

Here is the situation, My Girlfriend and I have been living together for over 6 months. For the last month or so, Her female cat who is a 8 yr old siamese mix, she generally ask for things (including that we need to rechange her litter) by pawing us. It has been helpful, but recently she has taken up a strange habit. For no reason what so ever, she now hisses at me. Hides from both of us(in very hard to reach places) at times, just moments after asking us for attention, or other random times without warning, She will hiss or completely freeze up, and then she will ask for attention after a little bit.

We are planning on taking her to the vet, but would like any advice we can get since this is causing me personally alot of stress(I have my own cat and love animals).

any idea's? could this be a dominance issue and what do you think I should do about it if it is?

Hi amcmillin, welcome to the forum

It is good you are taking her to a vet. It is most important to first eliminate the chance of this happening due to a health problem.

Do you and your g/f give her the same amount of attention as you give to the other cat (you wrote you have your own cat)?

They ruled out that there are no obvious health defects on her. Just that she is grumpy and something or another set her off. she has always been aggressive and has left her mark on everything. Even after being spay'd. Whenever she is upset, she sits in her spaces she designated as her space and she wont budge and the next day she is fine intil the evenning time then more then likely does this again. Sometimes its the evenning time only but lately it has been getting worse.

Well then, it is obvious something is bothering her. Since she is sissing at you and not at the other animals in the home I believe it is a matter of jealousy. It is hard to get her to accept she is not the only pet in the house who needs attention.
